This week I finally did it.
I paid off my car.
Five long years of dealing with car payments are done. Nina the Nissan is officially mine mine mine! After this accomplishment I feel so amazing I'm throwing some other goals to feed off that momentum.
1. Money in the bank
I have a 401k and have upped it to a decent percent- however its not enough. There are times when you need money right away (ie emergencies, flights home for sick loved ones ::god forbid:: and vet bills). Maybe I'm a little paranoid but ever since my promotion I've been putting money into savings. With my car payments ending- I plan on putting 20% a month of my pay into two savings accounts. Why two accounts? Well, while I feel safe saving for emergencies I also love saving for vacations and other crazy expensive items. One account I plan on saving strictly for emergencies and the other will be the extra fun money. The goal is to stick to it- which I haven't always been the best at but at this point in my life I really have no excuse. We don't have kids (just a fur baby) and so most of my money can go towards the basics; rent and food.
2. Get active.
I've always been athletic. I played basketball, lacrosse and rode horses growing up. However, as life tends to do, I got lazy. I sit at my desk 8-9 hours a day, go home, eat, and then go to bed. Thank god for a semi decent metabolism (which is slowing the older I get) or I'd have a problem. A good friend of mine once told me the closer I get to 30 (yikes) the slower my metabolism will be. And sadly, he was right. My weight fluxuate and I'm finding its harder to be at the lower end of that fluxatation. I don't eat great but I don't eat terrible either. I don't believe in diets- I believe in eating in moderation. I love desserts and the more you tell me I can't have them, the more I'm going to want to stab you with my fork and eat 3 cupcakes. With that being said its time to start moving. So I've decided I'll either get back into horseback riding- which is one of the best workouts since its cardo, balancing and strength training all in one OR get a personal trainer.I've already made progress with this goal- I set up two appointments. One with a stable and one with a personnel trainer. I plan on heading out there this week- stand by for updates
3. Make an effort.
This could go for a lot of things however for me its making an effort for make myself AND Chris be more social. Both of us work... alot. But after this weekend and hanging out with friends here I realized we're missing out on enjoying the place we live and the people here. So many times we make plans and are so tired that the very thought of going out is so unappealing. We need to act like young people!
Those are my goals and I plan (hope) to stick to them!
