Still home. Still Sick.
I actually woke up and got ready for work but after a few texts back and forth to my boss, it was decided that staying home another day might be best. I'd rather not contaminant others.
This is probably odd but being at home sick makes me realize how happy I am with my job. I hate being home for days on end. Having a career is very important to me, maybe sometimes too important. I've been with my current company for over 3 years. I recently was promoted to Director of Business Operations and this job means a lot to me. I've worked VERY hard to get here and don't plan on stopping here. Moving from Connecticut to Seattle to be with Chris was a huge decision but honestly transferring my job here was just as, if not more, important to me. I've been more then lucky to have the best co workers, boss and management. Say what you will about fate and how things are suppose to be but I could not have seen how perfect things fell into place for my transfer and my first 9 months here.
Sometimes I think we get so caught up in our problems or troubles that we forget to take a step back and realize how good things really are, right now in this moment.

Bronchitis.
There's a first time for everything including bronchitis.....
Ofcourse I'd get bronchitis after getting into our new place. Its really my own fault. I felt pretty bad on Friday (moving day) but ignored it. Saturday and Sunday wasn't much better but since I was still busy moving and running to Ikea.
So now its Monday and I'm hacking a lung up.
The weird thing is beside the sore throat and coughing I don't feel terrible. I guess normally when I get sick its my head that feels like its about to explode (I get chronic mirgrains). I'm only home so I can rest and drink fluids. The only plus is I'm home with Bailey puppy :)
The new apartment is coming together nicely though. I'm pretty excited about it. We went to Ikea yesterday and were able to buy a new bookcase and dresser which I've wanted ever since I moved to Seattle. Apparently you're an adult when you get excited over new things for the apartment. I'll post pictures when things are put together :)
Now back to bed, tea and puppy cuddles.

Home Sweet Home....for now.
Well we're officially/unofficially moved in.You know, that awkward phase where you have all of you stuff in the new location but now you need to unpack. We're there. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom are set up but we still have a lot of things to hang or decide where we want them. I was impressed with our progress yesterday and everything is out of the old place. WIN!
Pros of the new place:
Its so quiet here, I love it. Our old apartment was off a very busy main road but here it's in a small town set back off the main road. Thus far, its appreciated.
We have more room here; meaning my clothes actually fit in my closet. Well almost. I still need to do a run to Ikea for a new dresser but this is a huge improvement from my ghetto closet from our old apartment.
Cons:
The living room. Its smaller, a lot smaller then our old one so our massive couch doesn't look quiet right. It also means finding a home for the TV is also difficult.
Overall, its a work in progress but considering how negative my outlook was on this move I'm pretty pleased thus far.
Bailey seems to be adjusting pretty well, she was at doggy daycare all yesterday and then we brought her here. She seemed confused and not thrilled with all the boxes but as always she has adjusted very well.
Tonight is the night I have been waiting for! I have been wanting to go see War Horse (the play) for literally years. I heard about the play before the movie ever came out but I was never able to make it down to Lincoln Center in NYC to see it. Two Christmas's ago Chris and I saw the movie on Christmas Day and I loved the story. Before I moved to Seattle I randomly heard it was going to be here 2/2013, it's like it was following me! Anyways, we're going tonight and I am so excited, Chris bought me tickets for a late valentines day present and even though we're still in the middle of unpacking it will be a good night to get out.
Stay tuned for my review!

Barbaro
Barbaro was and will always be my favorite racehorse. Its amazing how a 3 year old colt could move a country.
I have some of the best memories with my grandfather at the racetrack in Pennsylvania. It's also where my love of horses and their grace flourished. Sadly the sport has taken some bad turns in the past few years with the drugging of horses to unsafe levels. I hope that one day it can return to its name, the sport of kings.

Things I hate #9703308
Moving. I hate moving.
The whole process is cumbersome and a hassle to me. I don't enjoy packing, unpacking and finding a new home for all of our stuff. My last move was 9 months ago from CT to WA and it consisted of my loading down my car and driving 3,000 miles. It was probably one of the best experiences I've had. My mom and I drove the trip together and while I thought I was going to hate it, it turned into one of the best memories I've had with my mom in a long time. We saw the county like I've never had before and were amazed by its diversity and beauty.
Now onto to this move. It's painful.
We are moving exactly 15 miles. ::Side Note:: Seattle traffic is TERRIBLE! Moving 15 miles will save me 45 minutes or longer on my daily commute each way. Logic would tell that this move would be a thousand times easier then previous move. Not true whatsoever.
When I moved into Chris's apartment things were already set up for the most part and I just had to find my niche (or take over wall space) at my leisure. This is different. This requires me to pack all of the stuff I brought as well as our kitchen, bathroom and living space that has 'shared stuff'. To be honest Chris has been a lot more motivated for this move then myself. He's excited for this in adventure and all the crap. I think his enthusiasm is also contributing to the fact that I hate it more. Misery does love company.
To say that I am picky is an understatement. I probably looked at 10-15 apartments before choosing the one we are moving to and I'm still not 100% satisfied with it. I have found that either a place is too expensive, too old, too small or too large. I feel like I'm Goldilocks in a sea of too big or too small beds.
Now that we have Bailey it has also added to the complexity of the issues we have to address. I know apartment living isn't ideal for dogs, but the way I see it as long as she is loved and we take her to parks she'll be fine.
We are moving officially on Friday but Chris has off Thursday and will be moving a great deal of the stuff then. So I have a few days but lets be honest, who wants to pack after working a full day of work and driving an hour home. Not I.
So here I am packing all weekend and hating every moment of it.

The Basics.
Welcome!
I've always wanted to start blogging, I read others and enjoy the lives that are told so why not start myself.
The basics:
I'm Jessica, but most people call me Jess.NEVER Jessie (ew)
I'm 27.
I live in Seattle Washington
I'm originally from Connecticut and will always consider that home even though I've lived in San Diego, CA, Savannah GA, and Norfolk VA.
I moved here to be with my boyfriend Chris. We've been dating for 2 years now and I'm sure he'll come up often as he is and will remain a huge part of my life.
We have a puppy named Bailey, she's a golden doodle and is hilarious.
